HEALTH OF CATS

R.S.P.C.A. IMMATURE ANIMAL DESEXING CLINIC

The R.S.P.C.A. Immature Animal Desexing Clinic offers desexing of kittens between 2 and 6 months of age.

This will enable the pure breed cat breeders to sell their "pet only" kittens already desexed, so there will not be any risk of unauthorised breeding with these cats.

The surgical procedure of desexing at this younger age is preferable especially in regard to the amount of stress the animals experiences. As the kittens tend to come in with their litter mates and must be fed prior to the anaesthetic as well as upon waking, they experience very little stress. The animals also recover from the anaesthetic a lot faster at this younger age.

Here at the Immature Animal Desexing Clinic, ALL animals admitted for surgery are up to date with vaccinations and are all under 6 months of age, therefor there is very little risk of disease exposure. The surgical procedures are performed by our Vet with 10 years of experience in this field, and the utmost care is taken with the patients at all times.
