Breeding of Folds.
a. British Shorthairs continue to be allowed to be used in Fold breeding programmes for five years from 1/7/99, ceasing with kittens born after 30/6/04. This allows time for the policy to be finalised, those concerned to be informed and any interested parties to make applications and have relevant programmes approved.
b. It is recommended that mating of Scottish Folds should alternate in approximately equal proportions to British Shorthair and Scottish Shorthairs in an effort to improve the stamina and size of Scottish Folds, with more careful selection of breeding stock.
c. Approved Scottish Fold breeders be permitted to outcross to selected Domestics for five years from 1/7/99, ceasing with kittens born after 30/6/04. Such Domestics are to be identified and registered as breeding cats to be used specifically and only for Scottish Fold breeding programmes.
d. Scottish Fold breeders wanting to use Domestics or British Shorthairs in their breeding programme are to submit their planned breeding programme to the Breeding Sub-committee for approval; with their programme subject to review on an on-going basis. Any changes to these proposed breeding plans are also to be submitted to the Breeding Sub-committee.
e. Any Scottish Longhair Folds or Scottish Longhairs that result from the introduction of Domestics be accepted within the Fold breeding programme and be given the same status as their shorthaired counterparts; with the adoption of the above breed names.
f. Scottish Fold are still not be mated to Scottish Fold at any time.
g. Scottish Shorthairs are not to be mated to British Shorthairs, as such mating could not produce Scottish Folds.
h. It is recommended that all Scottish Fold breeders submit their breeding programmes to the Breeding Sub-committee for purusal and comment from time to time or as required.
It should be noted that: - any use of Domestics in Fold breeding will be very strictly monitored and controlled. - no breeder has to be involved in using Domestics in Fold breeding unless they wish to do so and apply to the FCCV accordingly.
The FCC Committee reserves the right the vary the policy.
