The first version of Delphi (for 16-bit Windows3.1™) was launched as Borland Delphi in 1995
and a year later, the 32-bit Delphi 2 (for Windows 95™) was released. There followed nine more versions
of Delphi (Delphi 3, Delphi 4, Delphi 5 (1998), Delphi 6, Delphi 7 (2002) ), Delphi 8 (2003),
Delphi 2005 (2005), Delphi 2006 (2005), Delphi 2007 (2007) and the current version, Delphi 2009.In February 2006, Borland announced that it was looking for a buyer for its developer tools
(including Delphi) in order to concentrate on its ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) line.On July 1 2008, Embarcadero Technologies Inc. announced that it had purchased CodeGear from Borland.
