Please read all instruction before beginning your blocks. You may wish to use an alternative method to the one given to complete the individual blocks.

Detailed instructions are given for rotary cutting methods and machine piecing. A ¼" seam allowance is to be used throughout.

Cutting
Medium ScrapsCut sixteen 3 3/8" squares
Dark ScrapsCut diagonally the 32 dark 2 7/8" squares reserved in part 3 to produce 64 dark triangles.

Construction

  1. With right sides together sew dark triangles to the opposite sides of the 3 3/8" square. Press the seam allowance towards the dark triangles.
  1. With rights sides sew dark triangles to the remaining sides of the 3 3/8" square. Press the seam allowance towards the dark triangles.
  1. Make 16 of these units that should measure 4½" square.
  1. Join one of the units constructed in part 2 to either side of this unit. Make 16 of these units which should measure12½" x 4½".
  1. Join one of the units constructed in part 4 to either side of the above unit.
  1. Make 16 of these units which should measure12½" x 12½".

  2. Join four of the 12½" squares together to form a 24½" square. Make four of these squares.
