Please read all instruction before beginning your blocks. You may wish to use an alternative method to the one given to complete the individual blocks.
Detailed instructions are given for rotary cutting methods and machine piecing. But templates have been included for anyone who may wish to hand piece this quilt top.
A ¼" seam allowance is to be used throughout.
Cutting
| Light Scraps | Cut 10 4¼" squares
Cut 2 3&7/8" squares |
| Medium Scraps | Cut 22 3&7/8" squares |
| Dark Scraps | Cut 10 4¼" squares |
Construction
- Draw a diagonal on the wrong side of each of the 4¼" light squares.

- With right sides together place a light square on top of a dark square and sew ¼" either side of the diagonal.

Cut along the diagonal and press open. Press the seam allowance towards the dark fabric.

Make 20 bias squares each measuring 3&7/8" square .

Repeat steps 1-4 using the medium squares and the light/dark bias squares constructed in steps 1-4. Draw the diagonal on the medium square and place on the bias square so that the diagonal runs from point A to point B. Press seam allowance toward the medium fabric. You will make 20 unit D and 20 unit Dr (below) which should measure 3½" square.

Repeat steps 1-4 using the 3&7/8" light squares and the remaining 3&7/8" medium squares to make 4 light/medium 3½" bias squares.
