Portland and Port Fairy were also stop over places for vessels bound to other ports (eg..Melbourne to Adelaide) so some of these passengers listed were in transit.
The primary ports associated with Portland in 1843 were Port Fairy, Geelong and Melbourne in Victoria, Launceston and Hobart in Tasmania, Adelaide and Sydney.There were few international arrivals and departures direct to or from Portland.
