Cockburn-Yunta

The small towns of Cockburn, Olary, Mannahill, Yunta and Oodla Wirra all reside on the Barrier Highway between Burra and Broken Hill. While Cockburn and Yunta form the larger towns as they each boast police stations and more than 5 houses, they all are essentially highway service towns offering the bare essentials for motorists and a break in the extremely boring scenery encountered in this region of South Australia. Of interest in Cockburn is the old hotel which still proudly displays the town's original name of "Coburn" and the peculiar fact that the town straddles the NSW/SA border.
