Pinnaroo

Pinnaroo, located just west of the SA/VIC border, lies on the Mallee Highway between Tailem Bend and Ouyen, is the primary town of the Murray Mallee, an important railhead and a service town for motorists and the surrounding wheat, olives and wool industries. Despite the are being settled in the 1860's, the town was not gazetted until 1904 when the railway network was extended into the mallee regions. Although population has decreased over time, the town has retained some charm with various historic buildings lining Railway Terrace, has an interesting town centre and is host to a series of museums.
