Strathalbyn

Strathalbyn, a heritage listed town is located 60km south of Adelaide, lies on the Angas River and is at the north-eastern edge of the Fleurieu Peninsula. The town, settled in the late 1830's is a well established centre for the surrounding sheep, grain & wine producing region and was once an important stop on the Victor Harbor-Adelaide railway. The town is well known for its standout historic buildings (notably St Andrews Church) and its two distinct shopping precincts which offer a range of antiques, arts & crafts and collectables. Also nearby are the spectacular Soldiers Memorial Gardens which encompass a section of the Angas River adjacent to the CBD (recommended), wineries at Langhorne Creek (15km east) and Lake Alexandrina (via Milang - 15km south-east).
