ABOUT US

We are a group of (mostly physical) scientists who are concerned about the impact of science and technology on society and about how to maintain a responsible government and community attitude to the implementation of new and existing technology.

Our organisation is affiliated with similar bodies in other countries, such as SGR (in the UK) and the Verification Technology Information Centre (VERTIC), also in the UK.

We share a common interest with the Australian Anti-bases group which, like us, is particularly concerned about the involvement of Australian/US bases in the NMD program.

We also receive regular information from organisations like the Union of Concerned Scientists , the Center for Defense Information , the Federation of American Scientists and the Global Exchange organisation in the USA.

The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom has also established a very informative website which you can reach by clicking here. You will also find allied material on the Science for Peace Web page and on the website of our Tasmanian friends.

This site is managed by

Dr Bob Hunter
email address: sgr@hotkey.net.au

who will be happy to have your suggestions.

SGR needs new (and younger) Australian members to carry on the fight against the spread and use of nuclear weapons and the development of dangerous military technologies. We do not need membership subscriptions but we need people with enthusiasm. If you want to join us, contact us at the above address and let us know your interests.

Apart from providing the above links to other useful sites we are providing some information on our policy and notes of interest to members and others. We provide references to articles of particular interest to our members and others and also provide links to other websites with interesting and cogent material.

Particularly detailed information on new US nuclear weapons programs can be obtained from the New Mexico Nuclear Watch group .
