WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I ARRIVE?

Many patients find themselves at the Clinic as a result of surgery for some kind of malignant tumour. Chemotherapy then becomes the next form of treatment. Of course, other patients might not have had surgery and could be arriving there as a direct referral or after radiation therapy.

Your medical records would have arrived at the Clinic before you. You will be interviewed by the Advanced Trainee Medical Registrar as part of the staging process to establish the stage of your illness. In some cases the Registrar might have already visited you in the Ward if you were a patient in the Hospital.

You will also meet the Oncology nurse who will take down particulars and note your height and weight. At some stage the specialist Oncologist will also talk to you.
