R.U.R.

(1948)

Set in the island production centre for the Rossum's Universal Robots (R.U.R.) where the management predict that within five years, that there will be no unemployment, as robots are doing all the work there will be no need of employment. The robots - led by newer more advanced models - do rebel and begin to massacre the humans, surrounding the survivors in the factory before breaking in and killing them. The robots realise that the formula for their creation has been lost, but two of the newer robots fall in love after discovering that they are advanced enough to be able to reproduce.
