ADSL2+
What is ADSL2+ ? ADSL2+ (ITU G.992.5) doubles the bandwidth used for downstream data transmission, effectively doubling the maximum downstream data rates, and achieving rates of 20 Mbps on telephone lines as long at 1.5km (1524 metres). In simpler terms: ADSL2+ is a giant leap in download and upload speeds.
Is ADSL2+ available to all homes? Unfortunately not all exchanges support the speeds of ADSL2+ as of yet.
What speeds would I get with ADSL2+ ? ADSL2+ offers a speed of up to 20MBps (or 20,000KBps). Speed varies on many factors like your distance from the exchange, the quality of your phone line, etc.
Would I need to change any of my equipment? Most ADSL modems nowadays are ADSL2+ compatible. If you have an older modem which does NOT support ADSL2+ speeds, you would need to update your modem. Please check with your modem manufacturer if your modem is ADSL2+ compatible. Some known ADSL2+ modems:
- iConnect OPEN622
- iConnect OPEN625W
