Springvale
Regional Library
A regional library has quite a number
of functions, but most important is the holding and displaying of
books. Solid walls are necessary for their efficient placing.
The interesting aspect of this building
is the roof; it unites while it expresses the mechanical and structural
elements inside it. While the location of the portal frames is marked on
the outside, the air-conditioning system forged its shape:

The plant room on the top, from where the
emerging larger size ducts demand a thicker roof/ceiling space, which reduces
the further they reach into the areas to be served.
This provides an emphasis for the entrance.
These photos are of the model.
Even the basics
such as mechanical services and the steel structure can become "an opportunity"
for influencing the aesthetic aspects of the design.
