In the urban area an upsurge of enthusiasm has entered the Municipal Council recently, resulting in the cleaning and renovation of communal tanks and the appearance of an upwardly mobile team of ladies in yellow and red saris energetically engaged in garbage collection; trucks have recently taken the place of bullock carts for removal of garbage, which does happen on the main roads although the back streets where foreigners and dignitaries seldom roam can still be seen to present the face of the past.
