Interlocking Retaining Wall System
Bathurst Concrete Products have developed an Interlocking Retaining wall system that is ideal for the handyman to install. No special skills or tools are needed! These blocks are ideal for small retaining walls, up to 1.5m in height.
Estimating Table
Use the following table to estimate the quantity of Interlocking Retaining Wall blocks that you will require.
This table has allowed for the recommended 200mm spacing of the blocks.
Further engineering advice is required if you wish to build the wall more than 9 blocks high.

Laying Instructions
- Dig a trench approximately 150mm deep, by 250mm wide making sure the bottom of the trench is roughly level.
- Fill the trench with approximately 75mm of concrete and screed it off with a straight edge or spirit level. Check the level of the concrete at 1 metre intervals with a spirit level.
- Press the first row of blocks firmly into the wet concrete, checking that they are level as you go. Ensure they are spaced 200mm apart in the case of straight walls. For curved wall spacings see the curved wall section below.
- After the first course has been laid, allow a few hours for the concrete to harden. Your wall is now ready to build.
- After every course, shovel soil into and behind the blocks, compacting as you go. Take care that the bottom course of blocks is not dislodged. The use of sand, or clay to back fill is not advisable. Use a good garden type of soil, that plants will grow in.
- The final step is to plant creepers, or flowers of your choice, in between the gaps of the blocks.
