Facts
Sheet for the Fox Terrier.
The Fox Terrier is a people-oriented
dog that makes a welcome house pet.
It is friendly and personable
breed, with a desire to get in on all the happenings of the household rather
than watch from the sidelines.
Fox Terriers are active,
alert and self-confident.
They do require basic training
to ensure they become a welcome family member and usually respond quickly
to any training.
They can be excellent
watchdogs, as there is seldom they miss out on.
The Fox Terrier is a hardy
breed and has very few health issues.
Fox Terriers are quite reliable
with children although it is never recommended to leave a dog and a small
child unattended.
Wire Haired Fox Terriers
unlike their easy care smooth coated cousins require regular grooming.
This includes brushing to remove
old coat, clipping or hand stripping to keep the dog looking its best.
This could be described in similar fashion to a Schnauzer hairdo. The Wire
Fox Terrier does not seasonally molt. Wire Fox Terriers are normally Tri-coloured
which means they carry three colors on the same coat, Tan on the head,
black on any body patches and white over the body including the legs.
Smooth Fox Terriers
come in two colours which are Tan and white or Black and white .
Smooth Fox Terriers do shed
some loose hair especially in the summer months. But this is a small price
to pay for the effortless grooming of their short smooth coats.
The average life span of
a fox terrier is around 14 years.
It is normal to be asked
to wait on a breeder's list for an available puppy, As they are not always
readily available.
