Tas Traveller is the name of a Tasmanian role playing group which meets approximately once a month, in Launceston or Hobart. Traveller is a science fiction based role playing game. We have approximately 9 active players at the moment and 1 Evil Referee. After an extended campaign involving much death, destruction and alternate realities it was decided we would do something completely different.
We decided (hmmm no make that the Evil Ref decided - with input from the players) that we would do a campaign 10,000 years in the future. It's still set in the Traveller universe with Traveller rules but uses history, technology and culture which we decide upon.
At the end of the last adventure some people wanted to retire characters and others didn't. For those that did want to hold onto their characters they have been brought through to the future in the submerged brains of prisoners. Some people have also chosen that their 'future' selves look exactly the same as their previous characters. Even though these characters may look similar to the old characters, they are currently predominantly the future person. The old character is currently just a small voice in our heads. Tricky eh? For more information on individual characters you can check out the player profiles.
The Church of Stellar Divinity is the government, law and religion. See the history page for more information.
These guys are fanatics !We are currently prisoners, all here for different crimes. As at the beginning of the adventure none of us know each other. Prisoners have no rights what so ever and are entitled to no respect. They are used as 'canaries' to investigate dangerous situations.
Escaping is not an option as every prisoner is injected with a genetic virus. A booster inoculation must be administered every 12 months or the virus is fatal. The inoculation cannot be synthesized and is only available on Earth.
Prisoners are able to change their situation. The prison works on a merit system. You are assigned demerit points for bad behavior and merit points for performing well in a dangerous situation. As you get more merit points you can rise through the ranks and if you get enough merit points you can eventually become a free citizen. If you gain citizen status all record of any crimes you have committed is wiped and you can start again from stratch.
Merits points only seem to be assigned for very very dangerous situations....
I wonder how many people actually live to become citizens....
Warden to Rimmer:
"SHUT UP. You're a canary man! A member of the the toughest convict army this side of Pluto.
I've seen custard factories that aren't as yellow as you ! Start behaving like a man.
