Information for Crystal Waters Residents:

Giant Parramatta Grass must be controlled in Crystal Waters. The seed head is quite distinct as these photos illustrate.

The seed head differs from Rat's-tail in that it usually has a sooty or mouldy black colouration.

Giant Parramatta grass can be found free of the soot or mould.

Plants can be grazed by stock and they will send up smaller seed heads.

Even in an areas of heavy traffic or slashing, the plant will produce seed.

This plant was photographewd on the roadside opposite the domes. The weed is not confined to open paddocks.

A native grass produces seed heads with the black soot or mould though these are much smaller than the seed heads of Giant Parramatta Grass.

The weed has distinct seed heads that are much thicker than innocuous grasses.
