Information for Crystal Waters Residents:

Giant Rat's-tail Grass must be controlled in Crystal Waters. The seed head is quite distinct as these photos illustrate.

The seed head opens up as the plant matures.

Plants on Kilcoy Lane roadside.

A tuft being burned to destroy the plant and surrounding seeds.

Seed heads being hand picked, placed into a metal bin and burned with straw. This is best done in-situ rather than bagging up and removing the seed heads.

Giant Rat's-tail and Giant Parramatta Grasses are spread by seed being ingested and passed though the gut of stock, or sticking to the damp coats of native or feral animals (as well as vehicles, machinery and human feet etc).
