BIT OF HISTORY OF ME.

Hello there and Welcome to my home page. I hope that you like it:))
My name is Ernie but I'm known as falcon1 on IRC and ICQ.
As you can probably tell by the pic of the Ford XR6 I am a FORD fan and thats where I got my nick Falcon1 (being for the Ford Falcon motor car that is built here in Australia).
You will usually find me in the channel #hehehe via the IRCNET. You are quite welcome to join the channel anytime. I am a 50+ yo male from Melbourne, Australia and I am self-employed as an owner-driver doing courier work in the city and suburbs. It's not a bad job but there's a hell of a lot of driving hehe. I usually work about 12 hours a day starting at 6am and usually finish at around 6pm. I really look forward to the weekends hahaha.

Melbourne is a beautiful city. Some call it the most livable city in the World. It has wide streets and plenty of parks and gardens (The state Victoria of which Melbourne is the capital city, is called the Garden State). We have all types of races living in Melbourne and we have millions of tourists coming to Melbourne every year. The weather varies a fair bit going from about 12-13 degrees celsius in the winter to as high as 40 (or higher sometimes) celsius in the summer. I must admit i like the winter more than the summer. It gets very uncomfortable in the summer :(

SOME OF MY HOBBIES

I love playing golf and the social golf club of which I'm the treasurer of usually play one Sunday each month around various golf courses around Melbourne. Once a year, we have a golf weekend interstate at a place called Jerilderie in N.S.W. This usually happens the first or second weekend in August. There we play golf during the day on Saturday and Sunday and enjoy ourselves each night having a few ales and playing the pokies:)

Aussie Rules Football is my favourite sport. I support the Sydney Swans (which were originally a Melbourne footy club called South Melbourne). Because the A.F.L. (Australian Football League) decided to expand nationally, South Melbourne were the first volunteers to move interstate.
I also follow another team that's still here in Melbourne, and that's Carlton. Carlton is known as the Blues (not because theyre sad but by their colours). They are one of the most successful clubs in the A.F.L. and are always in the top 5 every year. :o)

I love watching all sorts of sport on TV but I must admit, I'm not too rapt in Rugby. I can't understand the rules. I don't mind soccer and I've actually taken up barracking for an English soccer team called Westham. The way they kick that round ball around is unbelievable.

Cricket is also a favourite of mine during the summer months. I used to play cricket in my younger days but was never really a "star" hahaha. I ended up mostly "carrying the drinks" so I retired from playing cricket and took up umpiring. I spent 15 years umpiring cricket in mostly the senior division of the then VJCA (Victorian Junior Cricket Association) who later changed their name to VTCA (Victorian Turf Cricket Association). I was lucky enough to do quite a few senior finals and I have quite a few certificates for excellency in umpiring. But unfortunately, I had to give it all up when I took the "package" from Telecom Australia (now known as Telstra) in 1992 and took on this silly job of courier work where I work my ass off about 12 hours a day. I found I couldnt concentrate too good umpiring the cricket as I was always too damn tired. I still go and watch my "old" cricket club when they play at home and get myself involved in various things like scoring, attending the bar etc etc. I am a "lifetime" member of the club and I have a nice little plaque on my wall to remind me of the good old days :)
