![]() FCCV Gp 1 & 4 Judge
I always remember owning a cat from my early childhood and in 1967 I was introduced to the world
of pedigreed cats. At this time I met my husband who
was third generation in showing and breeding cats. He was firmly ensconced in club and show activities for several
clubs in N.S.W. In 1969 I took a liking to Burmese and specialised in breeding browns.
I have lately branched out into other colours.
After moving to Melbourne in 1988 we met up with old friends from
the cat world in Sydney who had moved to Melbourne three years prior and were seconded into the show
scene once again. I also took up and enjoyed grooming
longhair cats for showing after being taught by a friend. These cats often took Best and Supreme in show.
Over the years having bred many Cat of the Year and Best in Show winners I also worked in all areas of show
operations including stewarding. I was Steward of the Year three years in succession. I have
Coordinated the Whiskas Wonderfull World of Cats
and have been involved in running the Talk to the Animals Expo for two years, helped run several major cat shows
over the years including the CCC of A National Cat Show and several other shows in Melbourne.
Currently I am on the FCCV Show Committee as Public Relations Officer and the FCCV Futures Sub Committee.
Having trained in the Hospitality Field has given me a wide range of skills in operating a successful show.
Being an active member of several clubs has kept me up to date with current trends with the running of shows.
I graduated as a Group 1 & 4 judge in January 1999 and enjoy all aspects of judging cats.
I have been trained in
open style judging and am a firm believer that open style judging is a great learning tool and communicator
for the exhibitors and public alike.
