The Club was formed in 1970, with its first Show held on the Queens Birthday weekend in June 1971, at Festival Hall. Overseas and Local Judges were invited, with sponsorship from "Luv" Pet Food. This first show was very successful. The Club went on to hold its Annual Show at the Camberwell Civic Centre for many years, followed by the Malvern Town Hall and more recently The Expo Building at the Showgrounds. Pedigreed Persian is now taking great pride in presenting the Australian Open Style Judging Shows with 2-3 rings, which is becoming very popular with the exhibitors and the public.
Pedigreed Persian is a very successful Club due to the hard working members of
the Committee over the years, with lots of Fund Raising.
The Club's social events and enthusiastic members are very important to our Club.
The most popular fund raising event is the very successful Annual Xmas BBQ and Dutch Auction. This is a great day with everyone enjoying themselves and at the same time, the money raised goes towards running our Annual May Show with Overseas and Interstate Judges, Trophies, Top 10 Rosettes and Ribbons. Another fundraiser for the Club is to form a syndicate for raffling cat food, which is very popular with the Exhibitors and Breeders.
Our small Committee are dedicated cat breeders, not only in Group 1
but we also have many members in Groups 2 and 3. We try to encourage new breeders
to join with us and participate in the showing of their cats, to socialise with the Club, and to come up with new ideas which are appreciated.
