THE FELINE CONTROL COUNCIL OF VICTORIA INC.

JUDGES PROFILE

Mrs Margaret Van Berendonk

GROUP 1 JUDGE
Introduction:
I remember my mother always owning a cat when I was a child, but I purchased my first pedigreed kitten in 1980, showing it for the first time in Geelong, in the same year. Breeding under the Gemara prefix, my first litter, of Persian Himalayans, arrived in 1981, followed much later from 1990 onwards by Blue and Brown Tabby Exotic Shorthairs.

Showing:
In the seventeen years I have been showing cats, my Persians and Exotics have frequently won Best of Breed and Best in Show.

Clubs and Councils:
My earliest membership of a club was to the Geelong Cat Fanciers, in which I at various times held the positions of President, Vice President and Secretary. My show experience included Show Manager, Steward Supervisor, Returning Officer, also in the Geelong Cat Fanciers.

I transferred to the Feline Control Council in 1993 and have been Secretary of the FCC Judges Association for two years. I have continued to broaden my experience in the running shows, especially in the card room.

Judging:
I obtained my Group 1 judges licence in 1988, transferring that licence also to the FCC. I intend extending it to Group 2 in the future.

My judging experience ranges over a large number of Victorian shows, but I have also judged across Australia in such states as South Australia, Tasmania and Queensland. I enjoy both conventional, closed shows and open talk-style shows.
