Our branch of HALL originated in Australia with the arrival of THOMAS and ELIZABETH HALL in South Australia in 1850 from, PLYMOUTH,UK. PETER HALL their son married HELLEN MARY GASKELL who had arrived in South Australia in 1847 as a 4 year old from Crostins, Lancashire, UK. where she was born. Peter and Hellen were married in 1864 at Kadina, SA. and so commenced our branch of the HALL families.

The HYATT ( sometimes spelt with an "E"-- HYETT) originated in Australia with the transportation of WILLIAM HYATT, who arrived in Van Dieman's Land in 1823. He was raised and baptised in the "Stratford upon Avon" area of England. ANN MAGIN who became William's Wife originated from "IRELAND" where she was born at EARLINGFORD, Newry, County Down in 1793. ANN was transported to Van Dieman's Land in 1833.

Both of these families are direct ancestors of GORDON LANGLEY HALL and SHIRLEY DOREEN HALL, (nee HYATT.)
