Zealand Songwriting Competition Awards Night will be held at the Australian Italian Club on

Music Group are conducting their next show at the Wynyard Bowls Club
on Saturday, August 7th, commencing at 7.30pm. This will also include the
Grand Final of the Amateur section of their talent quest. The Amateur section Grand Final
will be held on Saturday, August 7. Finalists are, Karl Dunham, Gordon
Badcock, Rod Boxhall, Jill Cordwell, Trevor Cordwell and Lelani Dobson.
Admission is $6 which includes supper. Proceeds going to the Graeme

There
will be a country music cabaret at the Deloraine RSL Club on Saturday,
August 21. The music will be supplied by the Deloraine Charity Singers
plus other guest artists. There will be raffles, lucky door prize and a
good country style supper provided. Doors open at 7.30. Admission is
$5 with proceeds going to aid Ronald McDonald House. For

The
first Telstra Road To Tamworth heat for Northern Tasmania will be held on
Sunday, August 22 at Devonport with a further nine heats across the
state in the coming months. |
The winner and
runner-up of the mini-heats will then compete in the Launceston final which
will be held at the Australian Italian Club on Saturday, November 20.
The winner of
the final heat will receive a $1000 prize to assist in their travel to
Tamworth for the 2005 Telstra Country Music Festival.
The Grand
Final winner will receive an unprecedented package of international and
national prizes designed to help launch their professional career including,
a single
recorded with BMG at Emerald Studios in Nashville Tennessee along with
airfare and accommodation, recording with both a Nashville producer and
session players;
a performance spot on the “Riverstage” at
America’s biggest and most famous country music festival - the CMA Music
Festival/Fanfair in Nashville, June 2005;
a performance spot at the CMA Global Artist
Showcase in one of the major clubs in Nashville during the CMA Music
Festival/Fanfair, June 2005;
a video clip that will be shown on the Country
Music Channel (CMC) nationally across the Austar and Foxtel platforms;
two gold passes to all the concerts and events
at CMA Music Festival/Fanfair June 2005;
twelve months
membership of the CMA.;
two paid live performances booked by Allied
Artists in 2005;
a Maton EM325C acoustic guitar, including case
and fitted with an AP5 professional pre-amp;
a paid performance spot during the Telstra
Country Music Festival, Tamworth, January 2005;
publicity in Nashville in support of their visit
and performances June 2005, provided by leading Nashville based PR company
AristoMedia;
a residential scholarship at either (the junior
college), Camerata or the CMAA College of Country Music held in Tamworth in
2005/6 (determined by the winner’s age).

at Burnie on September 5, Launceston on September 26, the East Coast October

The Wall features brass plaques
with a photo of the artist/personality plus a short bio of his/her country
music achievements.

Country Music Wall of Renown to date are - Dick Parry, Kevin Shegog,
Athol McCoy, Paul Lester, Max Kettle, Graham Hesketh, Beau Chatwin,
Dudley Higgs, Glenn Green and Jazzer Smith..

The Tasmanian Country Music
Wall of Renown
On August 8, 2002, a group of
country music enthusiasts in Launceston, Tasmania, formed the Tasmanian
Country Music Foundation.
The aims of the Foundation
include preserving the history of Tasmanian country music and it was with
this aim in mind that they began the Tasmanian Country Music Wall Of Renown.
This is a posthumous award,
to be eligible for inclusion the nominees must have been Tasmanian born or
resident that played an important role servicing or promoting Tasmanian
Country Music.
They don’t necessarily have
had to have been artists i.e. Broadcasters, M.C’s, Producers, Backing
musicians, Club personalities etc. are all eligible if they had played a
significant part in Tasmanian Country Music History.
The wall is to pay
tribute to past Tasmanians and inductees to date are: Athol McCoy,
Dick Parry, Kevin Shegog, Max Kettle, Paul Lester, Beau Chatwin, Graeme
Hesketh, Dudley Higgs, Glenn Green and Jazzer Smith.
