Cost
Kittens sold as pets or alter show cats cost $550
plus the cost of desexing. At present this is
$135 for a female and $75 for a male. All kittens
have been micro-chipped, received two F3 vaccinations,
wormed and registered with the Waratah
National Cat Alliance when adopted.
We do all we can to ensure our kittens are adopted
into only the most loving homes. If you are out
for long periods of time then it is worth considering
adopting two kittens. Tonkinese are very sociable
and enjoy the company of other cats. Kittens sold
as a pair from one litter are $900 for the pair.
We do not sell kittens for breeding.
Desexing
We have your kitten desexed before you take him/her
home because we believe this is best for the kitten.
Desexing is a safe procedure. It eliminates the
chance of unplanned pregnancies in females, and
reduces the chance of urine spraying in males.
We charge you only what the vet has charged us
and in most cases this is less than your local
vet would charge you if you had the kitten desexed
at 6 months.
We hope you enjoy looking at the kitten gallery
and it may also help you decide on your favourite
colour and pattern. Before you look at them we
thought it might be a good idea to explain a little
about the colours and patterns available in Tonkinese.
Top
Colours
Tonkinese come in 4 colours.
- Natural - rich dark brown. This colour is
known as seal in a Siamese and brown in a Burmese.
- Champagne - a lighter warm brown., known as
chocolate in Burmese.
- Blue -blue-grey.
- Platinum - a soft dove grey, known as lilac
in Burmese and Siamese.
Patterns
All Tonkinese have a pointed coat pattern which
means that the ears, nose, tail and paws (the
points) are darker than the body. The amount of
contrast between the points and the body varies
depending on the pattern.
Tonkinese come in 3 patterns.
- Pointed - these have the most contrast, the
body is very pale in comparison to the points.
- Sepia - these have the least amount of contrast.
The points are only slightly darker than the
body.
- Mink - these have more contrast than the sepia
but less contrast than the pointed.
The photo below will help you
see the difference in coat patterns. All three
kittens are champagne in colour but each has a
different coat pattern. From left to right they
are mink, sepia and pointed.

Eye Colour
Tonkinese eye colour is linked to the coat pattern.
There is a wide range of shades possible as many
genes are involved in producing eye colour.
- Pointed - Blue eyes, ranging from sky blue
to china blue.
- Mink - Aqua eyes ranging from green with a
hint of blue, to blue with just a hint of green.
- Sepia - Green eyes, sometimes aqua at the
green end of the spectrum or
greenish yellow.
