The Cackling Cavalier - 145 points On many a bloody field has been seen the sight of a dauntless knight, recklessly charging anything in his path and mowing it down. His deeds have become the stuff of legend, not least because of amazing his habit of cackling madly in the midst of mortal combat. His identity, beyond "The Cackling Cavalier", is unknown, although rumour has it that he may once have been a Bretonnian Questing knight whose quest became just a little too perilous for the good of his mind... Rides: The Cavalier rides a barded warhorse. Save: 1+ Magic Items: The Cavalier has no need of magic - he knows he will beat anything by himself, and so will never take anything magical. Special Rules: The Cavalier has a very disturbing effect upon his foes. His insane laughter unnerves them to such an extent that they suffer -1 to their weapon skill and iniative. This effects the entire unit he is fighting. In addition to this, their upset permits the Cavalier to strike first with his double-handed sword unless he has been charged, in which case, in the first turn of combat, he will strike last. In later turns he will strike first. The Cavalier's sureness has a strange effect - he knows that he cannot be beaten, and has actually become, for some unknown reason, exceedingly difficult to injure. His armour save therefore gains a +1 bonus, taking it from 2+ to 1+. The Cavalier is easily spotted on a battlefield, and his reputation precedes him, causing fear in his enemy. Alas, his reputation also works against him, for no man is foll enough to follow the mad, and so no unit may use his leadership. The Cackling Cavalier is a mercenary, seen almost everywhere in the Old World. He will fight for the following armies: Mercenaries (of course), Empire, Bretonnia, Dwarfs, Wood Elves. It is suspected that he would fight for the High Elves, but they won't hire him. I have worked out his cost as follows: 65 points for a human hero 15 points for his basic equipment and mount 10 points for his increased armour save and leadership 20 points to strike first 5 points to cause fear 30 points for his effect on the entire enemy unit, kept low because of his inability to lead a unit 145 points total What do you think? Too cheap? Too expensive? Unbalancing? Doesn't do enough?
