Points are gained by getting, or breaking an existing club record in any line class or division at any time throughout the fishing year. You must be residing within the South East corner of Queensland, but may fish at any location within Australian waters.
Points are calculated as per the ANSA handbook. All tackle used must be in accordance with the rules of the Australian National Sportfishing Association.
Sportfisher of the year is open to the following sections: - Senior Male, Senior Female, Junior Male, Junior Female, Sub-Junior Male and Sub-Junior Female
The angler with the highest totals in each section at the end of the fishing year is declared the winner.
Points are gained from fish caught at official Interclub competitions and B.I.S.F.C. Rally Weekends held throughout the fishing year. Also, each fish tagged in Pumicestone Passage during Rally Weekends will gain the angler 5 points towards Club Champion.

Club Champion is open to the following sections: - Senior Male, Senior Female, Junior Male, Junior Female, Sub-Junior Male and Sub-Junior Female.
The angler with the highest totals in each section at the end of the fishing year is declared the winner.
All members are eligible to compete.
There will be one (1) point awarded for attending the weigh-in, and a further five (5) points will be earned by weighing or tagging fish. One (1) point only per fish, with a maximum of five fish to be weighed or tagged, with no more than two fish of any eligible species to be counted.
There are two trophies in this competition. They are for Senior and Junior respectively. Male / Female Seniors compete together, and Male / Female Juniors and Sub-Juniors compete together.
A list of nominated species for the year will be published in the July newsletter. All nominated species must be caught within the fishing year. One (1) point only, will be awarded for the capture of a nominated species.
Fish can be caught in any ANSA division, and in any line class. Captures do not have to be club records or masters fish to qualify. The winner will be the angler with the most points at the end of the fishing year (maximum 12 points). In the event of a tie, the decision will be made by count back of days into the fishing year that the fish are caught. The angler who catches their fish first will be the winner.
Male / Female, Senior / Junior / Sub-Junior compete together. There is no division due to sex, age etc. (Only one trophy winner). There is no entry fee, and all members are eligible to compete.
Separate lists will be drawn up, one list for inshore and one list for offshore. Members can compete in either inshore, offshore or both. A tagged fish denotes a capture for the purpose of this competition.

INSHORE: Tailor; Luderick; Catfish (Fresh or Salt); Golden Perch; Bass; Bream; Mangrove Jack; Tarpon; Trevally (All); Flathead and Ray (All).
OFFSHORE: Sweetlip (All); Mack Tuna; Snapper; Cobia; Marlin; Yellowfin Tuna; Spotted Mackerel; Sailfish; Spanish Mackerel; Dolphin Fish; Longtail Tuna and Yellowtail Kingfish.
It is the responsibility of the angler to advise the Recorder of captures and the date of those captures.
"Local Waters" is defined as being: Waters abutting the Queensland / New South Wales border in the South to waters abutting the Sandy Cape region in the North, and East to the "Continental Shelf" billfish area.
The angler who tags the most billfish within the above area during the fishing year is declared the winner. It is the anglers responsibility to advise the Recorder of any billfish tagged.
The members of the B.I.S.F.C. Inc. Committee make the decision. All fish caught by members of the B.I.S.F.C. are eligible, provided that a member of the B.I.S.F.C. is skippering the boat from which the capture is made, and the fish is caught within the confines described as "Local Waters".
This trophy co-exists with "Skipper of the Year".
This trophy goes to the member of the B.I.S.F.C. who is acting as the "Skipper" of the boat from which the most meritorious fish is taken.
The members of the B.I.S.F.C. Committee make the decision.
INSHORE / FRESHWATER. - This trophy goes to the angler who tags the highest number of fish in inshore / freshwater locations throughout the fishing year.
Only fish listed in the ANSA Queensland eligible species list can be tagged. This list is updated and changed from time to time by ANSA Queensland.
OFFSHORE. - The rules are as for inshore tagging. Fish tagged with N.S.W. Game tags also count in this category
The members of the B.I.S.F.C. Committee make the decision. The trophy is awarded to the member that the committee decides has shown the most improvement in angling skills during the fishing year.
All members of the B.I.S.F.C. are eligible to compete. One point is awarded for each masters capture gained by members throughout the fishing year. Fish may be caught in all divisions, and on all line classes.
There is no division for sex, age etc. Male / Female, Senior / Junior / Sub-Junior all compete together. The winner is the angler who has captured the most masters fish during the fishing year. In the case of a tie, the decision is made by count back. The angler who caught their fish first is declared the winner.
