Michael Sheedy & Margaret Gorman

Michael Sheedy, and his brother Patrick were
sons of Michael Sheedy and Margaret Walsh,,
from  Galbally, Glen of Aherlow, Co Tippy.

The brothers arrived in New South Wales as immigrants
per Lascar, on the 11th Nov 1841, having departed
Cork,Ireland on the 28th July of that year.

The family group consisted of Michael Sheedy, his brother  
Patrick (and his wife Julia,and their four children 
(Marg,Michael,Mary & Cath), 
and Pat and Michael's niece Mary Ann Blackburn,[age 20] and 
two cousins of Julia's by the name of Margaret Gorman, one of 
whom was to shortly become the wife of Michael Sheedy.

The families took up residence in the Queanbeyan region of
New South Wales, and two places names preserve the family name
in the region, Sheedy's Paddock,formerly 1,400 acres and
now part of Lanyon, and Sheedys Creek which crosses the
main entrances to the Nature Reserve at Tidbinbilla.
