1876. German emigrants from Benalla settle at Herrnhut, including
       the prophetess Maria Heller
"Twenty eight of the German emigrants from Hill Plains, near Benalla,
have reached Herrnhut, near Mount Rouse (reports the Hamilton Spectator)
the Rev J.F Krumnow, the Moravian minister at the latter place, having
returned with them in waggons driven across the country by Shepparton,
Kyneton &c. The prophetess Maria Heller is amongst them, and has been
favourably received by the old residents at Herrnhut, who describe her as
as good, simple minded woman, of whom many stories have been told.
Mr Krumnow has sent the waggons back for the remainder of the emigrants,
amongst whom are several tradesmen, such as masons, carpenters, &c.
The music as the mission church at Herrnhut was very superior last Sunday,
some of the new-comers having formed a vocal and instrumental choir, which,
without the aid of a harmonium or organ, sang the sacred music true to
note, such as, we understand, was never heard in Western Victoria before.
Some of the performers have silver instruments, but as part of them have
gone back for their companions, the choir will not be so full as it will be
after their return with others who can also play or sing. When all arrive
at Herrnhut there will be quite a township there. Mr Krumnow being busy
building houses &c. The emigrants seem to be a superior class of people.
Some of the men havve been in the German war, whilst the appearance of
the women and children is prepossessing and pleasing. ".
