The following is an index to convicts Ticket of Leave Holders in the Portland - Port Fairy district c1845.

VPRS 108 PO (or UO) is also known as the Portland Magistrates Book.Some of the major contents include: Salaries of Police at Portland (images 1-15); Unfixed contingent accounts (images 16-33); Return of arms, ammunition and accoutrements for the service of the constabulary (images 34-45); Register of licenses to slaughter cattle (images 46-47); Issue of various licenses and certificates in the Portland district (images 48-86); Quarterly returns of leg irons, handcuffs and marching chains at the Portland police station (images 87-93); Particulars of Ticket of Leave holders (images 94-96); List of convicts who had obtained their freedom (images 98-99).

Though these men were assigned to this district, it is noted that some of them had not called to pick up their Tickets of Leave by the date of this return. The men may have been up-country, have died, absconded, or moved on not realising that it was essential that obtain their Ticket of Leave. Some are noted as being at Belfast(Port Fairy) or the Grampians.
