Welcome to the SheedySpeak databases..a list of references to Sheedys World Wide, designed to assist family researchers to locate information with regard to their families.

[a bookmark of this pagewill enable you to revisit at your lesiure.]

We continue to collect ANY information on Sheedy families,in the hope that we can assist each other in linking the descendants of the first known Sheedy families who originated in Ireland..If you have any stray Sheedy's in your research it would be appreciated if you send it on and I will add it to the website. Sources for the information are important.
Also if you would like to send on information regarding your first known family from Ireland ..I will be happy to included it in the profile section and also the queries section

The Genforum is a site where you can list any queries on your families.

A tip - as you go through the Sheedy Databases, if you use your *find* button on your toolbar..it often makes searching easier....just type in a name or a place..or even part of same,, and if it is listed on the page..you will be taken straight to the reference
also - use your *back* button - if you go into other people's sites,as some of their pages are not yet linked to ours.

We have had some interesting connections...
A Daniel Sheedy, born in NEW YORK in 1856, the son of John Sheedy and Hanora O'Donell, ended up in NEW ZEALAND. We discovererd that he had siblings born in IRELAND, and four of the those migrated to Victoria in AUSTRALIA.Daniel's siblings where mostly born in Limerick.. so the family of John Sheedy and Honora ODonell travelled from- Limerick,to New York, some to New Zealand and some to Victoria.Aust.

We have also linked a Ohio Sheedy family (James, of Springfield/Urbana) with two Australian families (his brothers John arrived Victoria in 1841 per Theresa and his brother Martin arrived Victoria 1841 per Argyle)...
So don't limit yourself when searching the indexes.

We have united several families who are researching the same families from Ireland.

A History of the McNamara Clan has now been reprinted, the original having been published in the 1890's in Ireland, and this new edition being the first since that time. You can view details, and order a copy at McNamara Homepage

We have now established several families who used the McNamara & Silk[e] surnames instead of,or in conjunction with, the Sheedy surname.. this has occured in many several instances, Silk being [to my understanding at least] the gaelic meaning,[or English translation] of Sioda [Sheedy] and McNamara being the Clan name of the Sheedy's
