Hi, my name is Carolynne Power and I live with my husband John and grandson Zachary and of course our wonderful British Shorthair companions and one dog, 'Rufus' who totally understands that the cats are the bosses.     We live in the beautiful Glass House Mountains area in Queensland, Australia.

I have been breeding since 1981, starting with persians.
My husband, John, attended a cat show with me and saw his first British Shorthair and said "Now that's a cat !!!!".   I purchased a lovely British Shorthair thinking this would get him interested in the show scene.    ALAS, it did not, but instead I fell in love and the persians left home and the British Shorthairs moved in.

That was in 1984 and the rest is history.  I am still owned heart and soul by British Shorthairs.   I absolutely love the British and take great delight in promoting them whenever possible.    I am currently specialising in blues.      I introduced the Bi-colours into the British in Australia in 1989 and bred bi-colours, tri-colours, harlequins and other colours for a number of years with great success.    However I now have only a small number of cats and for this reason have decided to breed only the wonderful blues.   I am very selective when choosing new owners for my kittens.     I breed for health, type and temperament and my Kaloofa cats are well known for their superb temperaments.

I have over the years imported cats from England and New Zealand to add to the gene pool and am proud to say that I have produced many British of great distinction under the banner of 'Kaloofa' Cattery. I export to a number of countries around the world, with outstanding achievements, particularly in South Africa and the USA, where GC BW RW Kaloofa Waltzing Matilda was the 2004/2005 National Breed winner and a Regional winner.  My special thanks go to her owners for their love and devotion to Matilda.

I am a Group 3 Shorthair judge and a qualified Steward.

I have three adult children, Sharon, Katherine and David and am 'Mum' to my grandson Zachary, who is David's son.      My daughter Katherine has three children, Jesse, Ziggy  and Max.   Sharon is a single career woman, no children and is a teacher, as well as a graduate in Fashion Design.

My other hobbies and interests include reading, theatre, gardening and calligraphy.    I assist the children who require remedial reading at the local school one day each week and do voluntary tuckshop once a month.   I am extremely interested in politics and have joined the local political party of my choice.
