Katandra Gardens Retreat

Eight Acres of Australian Wildflowers & Exotic Plants
The eight acre gardens are situated on a gentle sunny slope, have fertile well drained soil and are elevated above severe frost areas. An annual rainfall of around  900mm permits a wide range of plants to be grown. Approximately 75 species of birds either frequent the gardens or call it home. Katandra Retreat is a member of the Open Garden Scheme, is open from Thursday to Monday from 10.00am to 4.30pm. entry by donation.  Coach visits attract a small cover charge. The outdoor toilet is suitable for wheelchair access.

  • The gardens extensively feature some of Australia's most beautiful and colourful flora.
  • Visit the gardens on Open Garden Scheme Day, Fridays to Tuesdays from 10.00am to 4.30pm or at other times by arrangement.
  • Bus trips - a small admission fee is applicable.
  • The gardens house the The Ornamental Plant Collections Association Correa collection (over 800 plants).
  • Large collections of Australian Wildflower plants include: Correas, Grevilleas, Dyandras, Acacias, Eucalypts, Hibbertias, Hakeas, Prostantheras, Boronias, Banksias and Epacris.
  • Exotic plants include: Tree Peonies, Tulips, Azaleas, Magnolias, Fuchsias, Camellias, Daffodils, Hyacinths, Roses and Liliums.
  • Cottage garden plants and ferns.
  • Approximately 75 species of birds.
  • Barbecue and picnic facilities.
  • Toilet suitable for wheelchair access..
  • Easy walking tracks and gentle slopes.
