Barton Highway 

One of the shortest national highways, the Barton Highway starts just north of Canberra (Federal Highway) and runs to the Hume Highway, near Yass. The first 15km or so remains in the ACT. Once leaving the ACT, the highway passes through the grape growing areas of Murrumbateman and then across the rolling hills to Yass. The last 6-7km before reaching the Hume Highway is at freeway standard.

Road Standard: All bitumen, excellent standard
Road Quality: Dual carriageway within ACT border. From ACT border, many overtaking lanes; last 6km is at freeway standard before reaching the Hume Highway.
Speed Limit (outside built up areas): 100km/hr (110km/hr at freeway standard near Yass)
