Known as the balloon capital of Australia where the weather conditions in the town give almost perfect for hot air balloon flights, that give a excellent view of the surrounding rolling hills and "patchwork" paddocks. Gaskill Street is the town's main street is lined with many old buildings, which all interestingly have verandah's. The town itself is stretched out along State Route 81 for a seemingly endless time, and apart from the central town area, Canowindra is rather untidy and ugly. :-)
