Junee is situated north of Wagga Wagga on the Olympic Highway. The town is an important rail centre for southern NSW and a centre for local agricultural produce. The town itself seems to have been built around the railway station and thereafter grew around the railway junction. The Roundhouse Museum is of interest as is the excellent lookout which lies east of the town.
