NSW's most northerly centre, Tweed Heads and its twin QLD town Coolangatta, make up the southerly part of the popular tourist region known as the Gold Coast. Although Tweed Heads is adjacent to its QLD counterpart, it is quite different with Coolangatta boasting several high rise motel and living apartments. Tweed Heads has building restrictions so it can retain a quieter atmosphere to the bustling and touristy Gold Coast, however remains an ideal holiday destination as the Gold Coast theme parks and wonderful QLD & northern NSW hinterland all in close proximity. The town itself has an impressive shopping precinct (shared with Coolangatta), Tom Beatson lookout (recommended) just south of the CBD and an abundance of attractive and clean inlets & waterways ideal for water sports and fishing.
