Boyne Island - Tannum Sands

Boyne Island and its twin town, Tannum Sands are popular tourist and holiday destinations on the Capricorn Coast, 10km off the Bruce Hwy and about 25km south of the industrial city of Gladstone. Boyne Island is home to the largest aluminium smelter in the southern hemisphere yet the towns retain a pleasant lifestyle, holiday mood and are aesthetically pleasing to the eye. With the lack of room to further develop on Boyne Island, the growth in the area has quickly transformed Tannum Sands into a modern and at times, bustling centre. Highlights include the several walks along the picturesque Boyne River and the recently re-developed beachfront at Tannum Sands. Certainly a recommended destination for holidays and well worth the 10km deviation off the Bruce Highway.
