Caboolture

Caboolture, located approximately 50km north of Brisbane, lies just off the Bruce Highway and against the Caboolture River. Formed in the mid 1800's around a crossing over the Caboolture River, the town quickly became the centre for the local sub-tropical fruit and sugar industries due to fertile plains it resides in. The town and the Caboolture shire have in recent times been subject to rapid growth as the region has been targeted for cheaper housing and for rural-residential lifestyles yet being in close proximity to Brisbane, consequently turning Caboolture and nearby Morayfield into significant commercial centres. Of interest in the area are the well landscaped Centenary Lakes (built to celebrate 100 years of settlement in the area), the popular Bribie Island (20km east), War Plan Museum (2km east) and the Glass House Mountains (25km north).
