Capella

Capella, located in central Queensland, lies on the Gregory Highway between Emerald and Clermont. Established in the 1880's, the town grew initially to service the surrounding beef farming and sunflower growing industries - only more recently has the nearby coal mines added to Capella's economic base. The town is neat, well presented with a variety of parks abutting the main street - in the area is the Peak Ranges National Park which features several prominent peaks to the north-east (visible from town) and the recently constructed towns of Tieri & Middlemount to the east which cater for the rich coal deposits in the area
