Dirranbandi, the only town of significance between St George and Lightning Ridge lies near the QLD/NSW border on the Castlereagh Hwy. Located in south-western QLD amongst vast regions of floodplains, it is at a significant railhead and is the centre for the vast pastoral industries. Only limited services available in the town for passing motorists.
