Emu Park, the southern most town along the Capricorn Coast in central Queensland, is located 45 kilometres east of Rockhampton. A popular tourist destination due to its string of beaches and offshore islands (including Great Keppel Island - several ferries per day depart from Rosslyn Bay 12km north) - most sightseers arrive as part of the excellent scenic loop drive from Rockhampton-Yeppoon. While Yeppoon (20km north) provides the commercial centre and shopping preinct along the Capricorn Coast, Emu Park remains a fairly quiet town in contrast with the standout feature being the Captain Cook Memorial (The Singing Ship) which stands at the tip of Emu Point - a musical sculpture that "sings" as a result of the prevailing breezes.
