Gracemere

Gracemere, located just off the Capricorn Hwy only a few km west of Rockhampton, serves as a satellite town to the same city and as a beef farming centre as it contains several cattleyards and rural supply stores. The town was the original location of the first settlers, the Archer Brothers as they settled on Gracemere Lagoon (2km north-west). While Gracemere slowly grew, it was the nearby town Rockhampton that grew quicker due to its location on the Fitzroy River. Gracemere offers its residents quieter, country living however lacks any significant commercial activity due to its close proximity with Rockhampton.
