Kilcoy

Kilcoy, located in the southern Sunshine Coast hinterland, lies along the D'Aguilar Highway between Caboolture and Kingaroy and marks the northern end of the Somerset Dam. First settled in the mid 1840's, the town grew as a centre for the surrounding beef and dairy industries. The establishment of the Kilcoy Pastoral meatworks in the 1950's has since given the town its main economic source. Despite its mere population, the town has a substantial shopping precinct due to it being the only town of significance for some distance in all directions.
