Kingaroy is a large town located in the heart of the South Burnett region at the junction of the Bunya and D'Aguilar highways. The town is often referred to as being the peanut capital of Australia (note the large peanut silos in the town centre), however the region also produces other products such as maize, corn and cotton and more recently, wine production. In the area are the Bunya Mountains National Park (50km south-west), various winery tours and the excellent Apex Park lookout which offers a great vantage point over the surrounding region.
