Moonie Highway

The Moonie Highway, links the Darling Downs with the south-western QLD river region, and essentially provides rural centre, St George with a direct route to Brisbane. The highway starts at the large Darling Downs town of Dalby and heads south-west across fairly remote beef and cattle farming districts to the Leichhardt Highway junction town of Moonie. Heading further south-west, the highway passes through the small town of Westmar before reaching St George.

The Moonie Highway is named after the Moonie River, of which it parallels for a significant length. The highway also passes through the town of Moonie, of which is central to the highway's position.
