Moranbah

Moranbah, one of Queensland's youngest towns, lies just off the Peak Downs Highway between Mackay and Clermont and is set amongst the Denham Ranges. The town was established in 1972 to service the large coalmines to the north at Goonyella with most of the town's construction occurring in the 1980's. With its utopian style development, Moranbah has developed into an attractive oasis considering the dry environment is resides in and is now an important commercial and civic centre for the Belyando region and surrounding cattle industries.
