North of Warwick, the highway changes to the A3. The numbers on the right are what the A3 now supersedes - some of these older route numbers may still exist. Name Origin: The New England Highway is named after
the New England region in NSW, of which the highway passes through. While the
New England region does not exist in QLD, the highway does pass through similar
countryside and direction thus the road name is maintained for continuity.

Road Quality: Excellent: Wallangarra-Warwick as
it follows National Hwy 15 with frequent overtaking lanes already constructed.
North of Warwick the road quality
is average - even narrow in some areas, particularly north of Crows Nest. Dual
carriageway from Toowoomba to Highfields. Very windy between Cooyar-Yarraman.
Speed Limit (outside of built up area):
100km/hr. Patches of 80km/hr between
Yarraman and Toowoomba.
